A great intro book for me was Home Recording for Musicians for Dummies, a great starting point. The thread of MC tutorials is a great one, the MC University and the MC Youtube channel are great resources too. There are a TON of resources for digital recording out there and so much to learn so take your time and learn at your own pace. You'll find that the learning curve can be intimidating at times so my one suggestion would be to not get frustrated, take your time and have fun with it! It's a hobby right? It is a fully functional, packed with features DAW. MC7 is a great DAW, it's not a 'lite', 'beginner', or 'Garageband for Windows'. You'll find that the folks here, especially the staff, very helpful. Though I'm not retired I've found myself with much more free time and am enjoying the heck out of my new 'hobby.'
